With a dedicated solar coil fitted inside, unvented solar cylinders can be connected directly to solar panels that transfer energy from the sun and heat your stored water using this coil. Alongside this, these cylinders also house a secondary coil usually placed above the solar coil that receives heat input from either a gas, oil or electric boiler, whilst an immersion heater acts as a backup in case this were to fail.
