My EP2 Programmer was set to 7 day operation. For sone unknown reason its reset to 5/2 day working. I've tried resetting the programmer operation function back to 2 for 7 day working but it it is still set to 5/2 working. Could you please advise what process I should use to reset it back to 7 day operation or does it indicate that the programmer has developed a hardware fault?
Try entering Installer Mode by holding PROG and SET together, then use + / - to select Function 2 and set it to 2 for 7-day operation. Press SET to confirm.
If it still reverts to 5/2 mode, it likely indicates an internal fault or memory failure, and the programmer may need replacing. Alternatively contact Baxi as they will have a dedicated tech team to help you with a fix - 0344 879 7948
is it battery back up in case of power failure please let me know Thanks
Yes the Potterton EP2 (7211473) has an internal battery backup that retains clock and program settings during short power cuts, but prolonged mains loss may reset the settings, as the internal battery is not designed for long-term backup.
How do |I set the programms for the time heating and hot water. Could I please receive a copy of the intructions Yhank you.Geoffrey. Thank you
I’d recommend giving Baxi a call and speaking with their technical team, who will be able to assist you further, as I’m unable to locate the installation PDF. Their number is: 0330 678 0917.
How do I allow the programmer to set 3 timed periods per day? (at present, it seems to allow only 2).
From the information I can find online it recommends to do the following:
- Open the flap or cover of the programmer to access the buttons.
- Choose which channel to program: press the “HW/CH” button until the display shows the channel you want (e.g., CH for heating).
- Now program the ON and OFF times: Set ON1 time (first start) using “‑” and “+”.
- Press “YES” (in some older instructions this may correspond to “STEP” or similar) to move to OFF1 and set the first stop time.
- Next set ON2, OFF2.
- For 3 periods: then set ON3, OFF3. (The manual shows for 3 ON/OFFs you’ll have ON1, OFF1; ON2, OFF2; ON3, OFF3).
- If needed, use the “DAY” button to move to the next day of the week and repeat for each day (or use the “COPY” function if you want to copy a day’s times to the next).
- Once done, move the slider to RUN to enable the program.
Is this programmer the best replacement for an aging EP2001
Yes, this would be a suitable replacement as long as your boiler is compatible.
My old Potterton Mini Minder E is playing up. Heating comes on if you turn on hot water and hot water also comes on if you turn on heating BOTH on although only one is turned on I want to know if the Potterton EP2 is a direct replacement, with no other work involved other than replacement of unit
A Potterton EP2 programmer can work with a Potterton Mini Minder E, but whether it will work in your specific setup depends on how your wiring, zone valves, and boiler interconnections are currently arranged. You will need to confirm this with your chosen installer.
We have a Salus EP200 which we find very difficult to programme and hate. We want to revert to a Potterton EP2. Will this fit to our current backplate without rewiring?
Unfortunately as you currently have a Salus unit and wish to change it to a Potterton unit there is a good possibility that the backplate for the Salus will not be compatible. Therefore we would always advise to install everything supplied with the new Potterton control to ensure you have no issues with the device.
